Retracing and Upper Cervical Chiropractic
As we know, many patients visit the chiropractor after they have seen numerous other health care professionals, from their GP to specialist consultants. Patients of ours at Top Chiropractic have also, more often than not, previously seen full-spine chiropractors prior to coming into the office.
Symptoms Of Retracing
We also know that the point at which patients feel symptoms isn’t the start of their problems. Many issues go undetected for a long time without producing symptoms. The body is incredibly intricate and can keep you working as best as it can without pain or symptoms. But this often changes suddenly when we add extra stressors to our body – check out the blog on health perspectives. All this means that a significant time may have passed from the origin of any problems to finally seeking our help.
As a result, when we start the process of correcting problems, some of our patients experience something called retracing. Retracing comes in many forms but, most commonly, it can be the reappearance of old symptoms. Some people will mention, for example, that they have had a reminder of a old issue that came back for a day.
What Causes Retracing
If you imagine, certain things happens to you in your life and to your body at various times. As we unwind this and correct the issues, your body may need to revisit certain areas and take care of issues along the way, in order to heal .
You can compare this to a number of other scenarios, one of which is wearing braces. Many people as teenagers have had the experience of wearing braces. When the brace pulls the teeth into alignment, it can cause discomfort. Like retracing, it isn’t long-lasting discomfort, or the end outcome, but in the moment, it feels uncomfortable. The same can be said as your spine starts to change position. Your body will start to adopt a new and better alignment and muscles will start to fire that haven't in a long time. Like anything new, this can feel uncomfortable.
